Iko accompanies Cress and Thorne as they prepare for the Gala Ball and use their hacking skills to identify the rest of the wolves. Being an android who can’t get hurt, she’s the perfect soldier especially with her feisty attitude and her protective nature. I loved how she finds a purpose for herself beyond obsessing about the Commonwealth Balls and daydreaming about Emperor Kai. While we do see our favourite characters in the book, Wires and Nerve primarily follows the ship’s android Iko on her adventures of crime fighting the Queen’s wolf army who is causing havoc back on Earth. I’m glad that even upon the conclusion of the series, there’s a short story collection (Stars Above), and a graphic novel series to carry on the Cinder’s legacy. If there’s anything that can pull me out of a reading slump, it would be anything related to The Lunar Chronicles, one of my favourite series based on reimagined sci-fi fairytale characters. With appearances by Cinder, Cress, Scarlet, Winter, and the rest of the Rampion crew, this is a must-have for fans of the bestselling series. She is soon working with a handsome royal guard who forces her to question everything she knows about love, loyalty, and her own humanity.
